By the third quarter the Lady Badgers had already built a sizable lead. Then Allison Szabo added to it with a put-back basket. That gave Merkel a 31-17 advantage.
A short time later the Lady Badgers extended their lead to twenty after Ciara Cope gathered her own rebound, and got the bucket.
Merkel blew the game open when Cope found Macy Mays for a lay-up to give the Lady Badgers a 39-17 lead.
Wall would pull a little closer, but not enough to get within strike distance of the Lady Badgers.
Merkel would hold on for a 48-30 victory, and will take Poth Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the state semifinals. The winner will take on either Brock or Centerville for the Class 2A state title.
