Reminder: Abilene Participating in the Great Texas Warrant Roundup

By: Press Release
Updated: March 6, 2013
The City of Abilene is joining law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 265 jurisdictions across the state in the sixth annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup.

The multi-jurisdictional warrant roundup launched Saturday, March 2 and runs through Sunday, March 10. The roundup is designed to target thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charge warrants from participating jurisdictions.

"Before the Great Texas Warrant Roundup begins, those with outstanding warrants should contact Municipal Court as soon as possible," said Chief Marshal Monty Huddleston. "We want to encourage those with warrants to voluntarily comply and come in to Municipal Court."

Notices have been mailed to individuals with active warrants and more than 260 warrants have been cleared so far. Affected persons are urged to contact Municipal Court in the coming weeks to dispose of their cases voluntarily to avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest at home or at work in front of family, friends or co-workers.

Municipal Court is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is located on the east side of City Hall at 555 Walnut Street. Contact the court office by calling 325-676-6333.

Court officials point out that a telephone call does not constitute an appearance and continuances are not granted over the phone.

Those with outstanding warrants can choose to pay their citations online and not physically appear in Municipal Court by visiting https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/abilenetx/court/search. Warrants paid online must be paid in full.

A list of outstanding warrants is available on the City of Abilene website at http://www.abilenetx.com/MunicipalCourt/Default.aspx.
