Updated: February 25, 2013
Friday morning at about 9:05, Officer Danny Blankenship responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 4600 block of State Street. The calling party, a male subject, notified APD dispatch that he was at the residence and indicated that he allegedly stole property from the resident. Officer Blankenship contacted the involved parties. His preliminary investigation revealed that the disturbance concerned the self-admitted allegation that the male had been stealing property from the resident, his girlfriend, for several months while they were living together. The male subject spoke with detectives at the law enforcement center and revealed that he had been directly involved in the theft of the victim's property. Property valued at approximately $3,260 was reported as stolen. The property consisted of electronics, jewelry and other valuables. The male subject was arrested for felony Theft. This investigation continues.

Saturday afternoon at about 4:30, Officer Marc Valentine responded to a disturbance call at a hotel in the 3500 block of South 1 Street. APD dispatch had been notified by a male subject that he had been allegedly assaulted by his wife. Officer Valentine contacted the involved parties and his preliminary investigation revealed that the male victim and his wife were arguing about money. The victim stated that his wife became angry when he would not give her money and started slapping him in the face. The victim's face showed signs of the assault. The suspect left the residence in hopes of preventing further violence. A report for Assault Family Violence was taken. Later in the day, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Officer William Allred responded to a disturbance at the same location. The male victim called APD dispatch to report that the female subject had returned to the hotel room and had assaulted him. Officer Allred's preliminary investigation revealed that the female subject had pushed the door to the room open and pushed the male victim into the room. This action resulted in the victim's elbow being cut and causing him pain. The female subject was arrested for misdemeanor Assault Family Violence.

Sunday evening at about 7:45, Officer Andrew Valdez contacted a motorist in the 200 block of North Mockingbird Lane for a traffic violation. Before the traffic stop, Officer Valdez also observed that the motorist was weaving in the traffic lane. Officer Valdez contacted the male driver and observed a small child inside the vehicle. During the preliminary investigation, Officer Valdez smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and learned that the child was age four. The driver also displayed indicators of intoxication. The driver conducted standard field sobriety tests which he performed poorly. A records check confirmed that the subject was driving on a suspended license that showed the driver had previous alcohol-related suspensions. A mandatory blood specimen was taken at a local hospital. The driver was arrested for the felony offense of DWI (with Child Passenger) and for misdemeanor Driving While License Invalid.
