Update: Power Coming Back on in Southwest Abilene After Truck Downs Power Lines

Update

The signals along South 14 and the surrounding area affected by the downing of power lines behind the South 14 library branch are back on.

The loss of power was caused by a delivery truck accidentally backing up into one of the poles, causing it to fall over, and thus pulling down the top of the second pole.

Abilene firefighters estimate that due to the amount of the damage, it could take at least a day for the poles to be repaired.

Original Story

The top of two power line poles have broken off and are causing power outages in Southwest Abilene.

Signals are out along South 14 between Pioneer and the freeway due to a transformer that has fallen to the ground, taking power lines with it.

Currently, more than 370 Abilene residents are reporting power outages due to the incident.

The polls are located behind the library branch on South 14.
