For years now we've been reporting on the theft of scrap metal because it can easily be sold for cash, but now appliances are being taken for the same reason! One Abilene restaurant in particular has had the problem more then once.

Flossie's Sit-N-Chat is a small restaurant on South 14th. St. in a building that used to be a service station. The owner says her loyal customers come because of her food, but it seems she also has some loyal burglars who have also been returning for more then one serving of metal. She says they are taking anything metal, functional or not. The burgers are cooked just outside the back door. She says it used to be easier for the cook because she had a refrigerator and a stainless steel cabinet with a sink in it, but now that's gone.

The owner has called the scrap yards so they can be on the look out for her property. Police have also had reports of faucets being taken from an apartment, a metal table taken from a doctors' office and metal planters stolen from a porch.
