Five Cowgirls Honored By ASC

RICHARDSON, Texas  - Alexis Popelar highlighted five Hardin-Simmons women's basketball players that were honored by the coaches of the American Southwest Conference in their postseason awards.
 
Popelar was named first-team all-ASC and all-ASC West Division after leading the league in scoring at 18.3 points per game. She also averaged 8.2 rebounds per outing.
 
Four Cowgirls were named honorable mention all-ASC West. Senior guards Coco Cartwright and Taylor Rose were joined by sophomore guard Joanna Daniel and sophomore center Jaclyn von der Heide.
 
Howard Payne's Tresta Donahoo and Louisiana College's Natosha Gottlieb were named the ASC West and East players of the year.
 
Gottlieb, Donahoo, Popelar, Shaina Howard of Louisiana College and Katie Korioth of Texas-Dallas were named to the all-ASC team.

Concordia sophomore Domonique Liddell was voted ASC West defensive player of the year.  Concordia center DJ Vallier took freshman of the year honors and Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore forward Taylor Tucker was the West's top newcomer. Mary Hardin-Baylor senior post Brandi Dittert earned the title of ASC West Division sportsmanship athlete of the year. Howard Payne's Josh Prock earned ASC West coach of the year honors after guiding a division title.
