APD: Making Hard Times Harder, Man Robbed While Seeking Employment

Thursday afternoon at about 2, Officer Cory Valencia responded to a call for service concerning a stolen vehicle. APD dispatch received notification from a male victim who stated he wanted to file a written affidavit concerning the alleged theft of his truck. Officer Valencia's preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had gone to a local business in the 400 block of East South 11 with a friend two days prior. While the victim was talking to someone at the business about employment, his truck was stolen. The report indicated the vehicle stolen was a white 2004 Ford F250 valued at approximately $20,000. This investigation continues.

Thursday evening at about 7:45, Officer Jody Peavy contacted a motorist in the 4000 block of South 7 Street for a couple of traffic violations. Officer Peavy contacted the male driver and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was searched during the preliminary investigation and revealed a baggie containing marijuana. The driver also claimed ownership of said marijuana and stated that he had paid $20.00 for it. The driver was arrested for misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana.

Thursday evening at about 10:30, Officer Clint Coapland contacted a motorist in the 4400 block of Buffalo Gap Road for a traffic violation; the vehicle had no lights on. Officer Coapland contacted the male driver and a records check confirmed that the driver had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The driver was arrested for a felony forgery arrest warrant.
