It's game day at Jim Ned Elementary school, but these little ones aren't the athletes.

"We try to get them to come through in front of our elementary, that way our kids can send them off. We want them to see that this is a goal they can set for themselves hopefully someday", says Jim Ned Elementary principal, Cristi Doty.

Today the Jim Ned High school basketball team is going to regionals, and of course they have cheerleaders--about 200 of them.

"We are on our way to making it to the playoffs, and we get to go to Midland tonight, and it's pretty cool being able to do this. I hope we can make it further, it's kind of like a first time deal for us", explains 5th grader, Sawyer Higgins.

Excitement is thick in the air as the kiddos wait for their local heroes to make a pit-stop in their big bus.

"We've been doing this for a while, and I hope we keep doing it, even when I'm a senior. And maybe I'll be on that bus someday", Higgins tells us.

As the Indian all-stars greet their devoted fans, many of them are also taking a walk down memory lane.

"Some of the older boys remember doing this as an elementary school student and thinking 'oh wow, it would be so awesome if we get to do that', and here they are again on the bus coming through. Now they have their turn", says Doty.

The tradition hypes everyone up, not only for the game, but also for the future.

Many will be trekking over to midland to join the Indians later for the game, and no matter the outcome, these little ones are sure to make them feel like winners.
