"All of a sudden we just heard an explosion and ran up front," says Margaret Adams.

All that remains at Andy Don Hart's tax office in Merkel is glass, after 90-year old Major Pilkington drove straight through the business Friday afternoon.

Pilkington says, "I think I must have been stepped on the gas more than I should."

We still are not exactly sure how his car managed to land in the street after entering the building.

Adams continues, "I don't know if he backed off or if it threw him off or what."

We do know  good fortune was on this business' side today.

An employee who normally sits at a desk in the front of the office would have been in the direct path of the car, had she been at work at the time of the accident.

"We do have a part time worker and she possibly could have been up there at this time but thank heavens she wasn't. I'm just still a little flustered. It's just very scary," says Adams.

The crash left Pilkington a little shaken up as well, but he was able to walk away from the accident without a scratch on his body.

"As far as I know I'm in pretty good shape," says Pilkington.

The building may not be, but after the pieces are put back together again, this tax office will be back up and running in no time.
