Fire, Smoke cause Apartment Evacuation

People in multiple apartments in a north Abilene complex were evacuated this afternoon after a neighbor spotted smoke coming from a balcony.
AFD responded to a call stating that smoke was visible from the lower unit of a building around 4:30 Sunday afternoon at the Cimarron Apartments on North Judge Ely.
No one was home at the time, and one wall of the living room of that lower level apartment was damaged.
Abilene firefighters have ruled the fire as accidental, possibly caused by an electrical problem involving a lamp located near the living room wall.
