"Yeah I like to wave and get paid for it," said David Lewis.

When asked what he does for a living, David smiles and proudly says he's a waver. He spends four to six hours outside and simply waves.

"I just listen to music and wave at people," he explained.

He's been a waver for 3 years now. And has had both good and bad experiences. And has even successfully brought in more customers to Liberty Tax.

"We've had a lot of people come in that have said when we're asking them, 'Well how did you hear about Liberty?' And they'll say, 'Well, I saw your waver out there, so I figured I'd stop,'" said David.

But being a waver is about more than having fun, dancing and bringing in customers. It's also about giving back.

"It's kind of my way of giving back to the community in a sense," David said. "You know, make everybody smile and just have a good time doing it."

Saying that his job allows him to help complete strangers.

"You have some people drive by and they look like they're upset. You know if you get down like this you usually get a honk and a smile. Then you kind of help brighten people's days sometimes," David explained.

To David, that's what makes the job worthwhile, saying that it's not as bad as it looks.

"It can't be all that bad to dress up in a fun outfit and go dance and make people smile," he said. "I think more people in the world should be nicer than be so hateful."

And those honks and those smiles are exactly how david is spreading that cheer.
