McMurry Presents 'Around the World in 80 Minutes'

The McMurry University Wind Ensemble will perform a free concert titled "Around the World in 80 Minutes" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church as part of its spring 2013 concert tour. 

The concert is free and open to the public.

The band will then travel to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area for several concerts March 7-8.  The tour begins with a concert at Carrollton Christian Academy in Carrollton, Texas, at 9 a.m. Thursday, followed by a 1:30 p.m. performance at Kennedale High School in Kennedale, TX.

The band will wrap up its Thursday schedule with a free public performance at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington TX. 

On Friday, March 8, the band will perform at 8 a.m. at Eastland High School, Eastland, TX, and again at 1 p.m. at Jacksboro Middle School, Jacksboro, TX.

Performance pieces include Prelude to a Shining Day by Yo Goto, Variations on a Korean Folk Song by John Barnes Chance, Carnival of Venice by Herbert L. Clarke (Dr. Mark Wilcox, guest trumpet soloist), Courtly Airs and Dances by Ron Nelson, Australian Up-Country Tune by Percy Grainger, and Great Gate of Kiev by Modest Mussorgsky.
