The state comptroller's office reports that they have returned more than $530 million to Texas cities, counties and other taxing authorities.
The city of Abilene got a sales tax rebate of almost $3.3 million. That's a 12 percent increase from the February rebate from last year.
Brownwood got a sales tax rebate of almost $431,000.
The Sweetwater rebate was about $238,000 thousand.
Sales taxes come from the retail sales activity from the month before. Many cities count on retail sales as a primary source of revenue.
