In recent weeks, the burglaries have been clustered and usually in apartment complexes. Most of the cars hit were left unlocked.
However, the window of the officer's vehicle was smashed.
According to the Chief of Police, Stan Standridge, the officer was moving and was making trips back and forth from his old residence to his new home when someone smashed the windows, and took two guns and several APD uniforms.
The Chief did say they are not worried about someone impersonating an officer because the uniforms that were taken from the car were recovered near where the car was broken into.
The Chief says they do have several leads and are pursuing them aggressively.
