The word of the day is snake.

Rattling snakes, milking snakes, skinning snakes. They are everywhere.

Now a vast majority of the people attending the round up are here to see the live snakes, of course. But others are here for a very different reason.

"We come here to eat!"

And they aren't the only. The line for fried rattlesnake is practically endless.

"We have people that come through every year from all over America. They want to try a piece, just one piece, " says James Lamb.

But eating rattlesnake takes a lot more skill than you would think.

"You take your bottom jaw, you bottom teeth, and catch it right about here across the spine and all the meat will peel right off the bone," say Lamb.

For some people it's their first time.

"We're trying rattlesnake, first time," says Tom Huffman.

For others, it brings back memories.

"We haven't been here since we were younger. It was something that my dad and my mom used to do with us," says Rosemary Garcia.

And then there's those that just can't get enough.

"They'll come in and will usually buy anywhere from 100-400 pounds of snake to take home with them," says Lamb.

It may sound like an extreme amount of snake, but to hunters, it's just everyday life.

"It's kinda like a way of life around here. I mean everybody hunts the rattlesnake and a lot of people that hunt them like to eat them too," says lamb

Fortunately, the rattlesnake population is over the top, so this tradition will carry for years to come.
