A hot start propelled the Bronchos to a victory the Cooper Cougars on Thursday afternoon.

Odessa High would score six runs in the first two innings. Meanwhile the Cougars would only get one on the board during that time.

In the bottom of the third the Cougars bats would come to life. A double by David Ruot would get Cooper going. Then a short time later Josh Hale would drive Ruot home with a shot down the left field line.

Cooper would only get one run across the plate in the third inning.

Then in the top of the fourth the Bronchos would respond by scoring on a past ball. A short time later catcher Garrett Hurst would redeem himself by throwing out Mason Rodriguez at second base.

In the bottom of the fourth, Cooper would once again get a Cougar across home plate. Once again it would be Ruot with a shot to drive home Taylor Brennen. Odessa would hold Cooper to one run in the inning, but the Cougars would get within two runs later in the game.

A four run sixth inning for Odessa would prove to be the difference as they held on for a 12-8 victory.
