King and Fraser to speak at ACU March 22

Abilene Christian University will be hosting a light lunch and discussion about the 83rd legislative session with state Sen. Troy Fraser, R-Horseshoe Bay, and state Rep. Susan King, R-Abilene.

The event is part of The Hot Seat conversation series, and is hosted by universities across the state.

The event will take place on March 22 in the Hunter Welcome Center, and parking is available in the adjacent structure (see building 30). If you're traveling from out of town, please see these directions.

The Hot Seat is underwritten by the KDK-Harman Foundation, with additional support from AT&T, BP, Raise Your Hand Texas, Christus Health, the Texas Coalition of Dental Service Organizations, Texas A&M University and 83rd legislative session sponsor My Plates.

Fraser is a native of West Texas born in Abilene and raised in the small town of Coahoma. He was first elected to represent Senate District 24, a 21-county region, in 1996. He previously served in the Texas House from 1988 to 1992. Fraser is chairman of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, co-chairman of the Environmental Flows Advisory Group and has served on the Economic Development, Nominations and State Affairs committees.

King was first elected in 2006 and is serving her fourth term in the Texas House representing District 71, which includes Taylor, Jones and Nolan counties. King is co-owner and co-director of Elm Place Ambulatory Surgical Center in Abilene, where she is a practicing surgical nurse. She has served on the House Appropriations Committee, the Appropriations Article II Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, the Appropriations Subcommittee on Current Financial Condition, the House Public Health Committee and the House Administration Committee.
