National Poison Prevention Week was established by the U.S. Congress and is commissioned by the Poison Prevention Week Council, an organization of public and private partners committed to reducing unintentional poisonings and promoting poison prevention.
Since 1962, the President of the United States has proclaimed the third full week of March as National Poison Prevention Week to raise awareness about the dangers of poisoning and how to prevent them.
For information on what you need to do in a poison emergency, how to protect yourself and your family from poisoning, as well as how to help host a poison prevention event in your community, go to http://poisonhelp.hrsa.gov/what-can-you-do/index.html.
