It's out with the old, and in with the new.

"The animals had all lost their color, their vibrance. And they were dreary and sad looking up on the panels. And the garden will help brighten it up over here and maybe even give people more hope," explained Terrye Newcomb, part of Hailey's Search Center.

It was the news of remains found near Snyder that brought two searchers back to Colorado City. Saying they're in town for support, in case those remains are those of the missing teen Hailey Dunn. They and locals tell us that the news is bittersweet.

"Like everybody says, we hope it's not, you know, because we want her to be alive still," said Colorado City local Henry Reyna. "And at the same time, it does, like everybody says, it does put closure to it."

"You hear news like that and you don't know what to say. Cause we've been in this 27 months and it's just, pretty hard," said Hailey's Search Center's April Wehba.

So they decided to spread more hope, by gardening. Picking out orange and purple blooms to replace the wall of stuffed animals that had become a common sight.

"The biggest shock for people when they drive by Hailey's Hope right now is that the animals are gone," said Newcomb. "They had begun to deteriorate pretty bad."

Packing them away to bring in a brighter and growing hope.

"I know she needs to be found; she needs to come home," Newcomb said. "And if it is her, then maybe it is time to come home."

This is just part of the effort to convert this front lawn area into garden. And those searchers said that they plan on staying here as long as  they have to and will continue to spread hope for Hailey.
