By: Press Release
Updated: March 21, 2013
McMurry University's chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the National English Honors Society, would like to invite the campus and community to its spring service project, a reading marathon of The Wizard of Oz books on March 23 at McMurry University.

As an organization, Sigma Tau is committed to promoting literacy on campus and in the community, as well as helping to enrich the community as a whole.

This reading marathon will involve a public reading of L. Frank Baum's books in order to promote literacy for the Abilene area and to raise money for Abilene's branch of Habitat for Humanity. Participants will sign up for ten-minute reading slots and obtain sponsorships of money and for every slot they fill; all proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to the reading of the book, the event will include a performance by the winner of the Singer-Songwriter competition, as well as food and drinks.

The marathon will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 23.

It will be located on Wahwahtaysee (on the corner of 14
and Sayles) and will be part of the program for World Village. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us at sigmatau@mcm.edu.
