The Taylor County Sheriff's vehicles are getting an upgrade. Their current in-car video equipment is over ten years old and has seen several problems.

"This is very important to the Sheriff's office for their reports and integrity of the whole Sheriff office," says Taylor County Commissioner, Stan Egger.

Although, there was no demo available, we are told that the new equipment will far surpass the current one. The picture quality will be better and the whole system will be digital.

"The video can be wirelessly transmitted to a receiver where it can be stored in the building. It's basically an easy way transport the tape from the patrol car to the Sheriff's office," says Taylor County Sheriff, John Cummins.

The current in-car system uses tapes which can only hold a certain amount of video. The new hard-drive will be able to hold a great deal more.

"The hard-drive system, if there's video of evidenciary value that needs to be put with a case, this hard-drive system will make it easier to do that," John Cummins adds.

The new system costs $157,000 and will be installed in all of the Sheriff patrol cars.
