Eating for the Holidays

One of the greatest things about the holiday season is all the great food. Unfortunately, with the turkey and dressing, pies and cookies, come the extra pounds that everyone will be trying to get rid of January 1st.

The best way to keep those extra unwanted pounds off is by eating the right foods, such as lean turkey and vegetables such as broccoli and green beans.

Since you can't completely avoid casseroles and desserts at Thanksgiving, Wes Greenway, a fitness consultant and personal trainer from Gold's Gym gives some great tips for eating during the holidays.

1) You can still enjoy all your favorite holiday foods as long as you keep it in moderation. Choose smaller portions of those not so healthy favorites.
2) Drink plenty of water while you are eating, so you will feel up faster
3) Avoid snacking on cookies and treats in between meals
4) After big meals, find a fun way to work out.

Instead of sitting on the couch watching a football game, play a game of football in the yard with your family or go on a long walk to work off the big meal.
