Around 8:30 p.m., Abilene Police responded to call to the 600 block of Elm Street.

The victim, Michael Solis, was shot in the lower abdomen by a unknown suspect.

Two of Michaels friends were inside the home, when a Jeep SUV with three passengers pulled in front of their house, complaining of an overheated radiator.

One friend went outside to help the motorists, while the other stayed inside.

The friend in the home claimed he heard gunshots, looked out the window, and saw Solis staggering towards the front porch.

That friend saw the suspect running behind the house towards the alley.

The suspect was described by witnesses as a black male, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and a face mask. He was carrying a small caliber handgun.

The Abilene Police K-9 unit tracked the suspect to the corner of S. 2nd and Butternut, where the dog lost the scent.

The suspect is still on the run and is considered armed and dangerous.

It is unknown if the Jeep and its passengers were related to the shooting.

Solis was taken by ambulance to Hendrick Medical Center.
