Abilene Officer Injured

Yesterday, at about 10:15 A.M., Officer Hartmankok was dispatched to a disturbance call in the 400 block of Cockerell. The victim stated her boyfriend, a 35 year old hispanic male, choked her during an argument and took away her phone when she tried to call 9-1-1. The suspect was arrested for Assault/Family Violence and Interference With An Emergency Call.
Later, at about 11:15 P.M., Officer Long stopped a vehicle in the 2100 block of Pine. The driver, a 33 year old white male, was intoxicated. He refused to turn off the vehicle and when Officer Long reached into the vehicle to get the keys, the suspect put the vehicle in gear and backed into Officer Longs police car. Officer Long sustained a minor injury to his hand. The suspect was arrested for Assault On A Peace Officer and Driving While Intoxicated With An Accident. The suspect had a prior DWI conviction.
Finally, at about 12:36 A.M., Officer Phillips stopped a vehicle in the 2800 block of Russell. One of the subjects Officer Phillips contacted was a 20 year old black female. This subject was found to be in possession of cocaine and was arrested for Possession Of A Controlled Substance.
