Gas Drops to $1.39

By: Ron Rosseau
Updated: December 24, 2008
Holiday travelers heading through Texas are getting a break at the gas pump as prices continue to fall.

AAA Texas spokesperson Sarah Schimmer says prices are dropping, but it's at a slower rate.

Schimmer says prices may have remained relatively firm as a result of an increased demand for gasoline from holiday shoppers, travelers, and as citizens in several regions of the country prepare for winter storms.

Still, the cost of gasoline dropped to $1.39 per gallon this morning at HEB at South 14th and Barrow and some other stations.

The gasoline prices have been dropping significantly for the last several months.

The statewide average dropped to $1.54 this week.

The cost was about $4 per gallon last spring and summer.

The demand for oil and gasoline has been dropping because of the slumping economy here and many other nations.
