Cigarette May Have Caused Grass Fire

 Tuesday 5:30pm:

Firefighters believe a discarded cigarette butt might have ignited the fire that quickly spread in Roscoe Monday morning.

70 acres adjacent to a wind farm and cotton field burned over the course of several hours.


Monday 10:30pm:
A grass fire burned fields near Roscoe Monday morning.

It was about 9:30 a.m. when there were calls about a fast moving wildfire off County Road 105.

Roscoe, Sweetwater and Loraine firefighters were at the scene, where several acres of tall grass burned right next to a wind farm and cotton field.

The fire was contained within a few hours.

No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported from the fire.
