Crime Report: Family Violence, DWI

By: Sgt H.K. Shackleford, Abilene Police
Updated: December 30, 2008
Last night, at about 5:30 P.M., Officer Shoemaker was dispatched to a disturbance call in the 5200 block of Twylight Trail. The victim stated a family member had punched him in his ear several times during an argument. The suspect, a 22 year old white male, was arrested for Assault/Family Violence.

Later, at about 9:05 P.M., Officer Becker saw a vehicle in about the 1300 block of South Pioneer that was swerving from lane to lane. The driver also threw a beer can out of the window. The driver initially refused to stop and eventually ran on foot from the vehicle. The driver was caught a short distance away and was charged with Evading and Driving While Intoxicated.

During the New Year Holiday, we will be conducting the DWI "No Refusal" program. In this program, if an intoxicated driver refuses to provide a breath specimen, a search warrant will be applied for to take a blood specimen. Please, don't drink and drive.
