This morning, at about 12:07, Sergeant Baird stopped a vehicle in the 1900 block of North Clack for driving without headlights and for going the wrong way. The driver, a 38 year old white female, was intoxicated and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. She provided a breath sample that was twice the legal limit.
Later, at about 1:45 A.M., Officer Antilley stopped a vehicle in the 2100 block of Forrest for speeding. The driver, a 38 year old white male, initially gave a wrong name but his correct identity was located. The driver was intoxicated and also had three outstanding traffic warrants. The driver also had a prior conviction for DWI. He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Failure To Identify, and for the three warrants.
During the New Year Holiday, we will be conducting the DWI "No Refusal" program. In this program, if an intoxicated driver refuses to provide a breath specimen, a search warrant will be applied for to take a blood specimen. Please, don't drink and drive.
