49-year-old, Lisa Barton, is facing multiple charges for a high-speed chase including intoxicated assault and evading arrest.

She was held on a bond of $4000.

Barton began the chase after being pulled over for speeding once the trooper learned that Barton was driving a stolen car from Shackleford county.

While running from police, Barton collided with another vehicle which was also listed as stolen by a Tamara Mitchell.

Three other cars were also involved in the wreck.

Both Barton and Mitchell could be facing other charges.

A wild chase through the Big Country resulted in a serious wreck in Abilene involving five vehicles.

The violent accident occurred at Grape and Ambler just after 5 p.m. Officials confirm at least five people were hospitalized. The injuries aren't considered life threatening.

Two vehicles involved in the wreck were heavily smashed. Paramedics and rescue personnel had to use the "jaws of life" to free two victims from the mangled mess.

Police say the chase began in Shackelford County of Highway 351. A female driver in a blue Buick refused to pull over. The vehicle had been reported as stolen.

It's not clear whether the driver who sparked the chase was injured in the accident.

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, investigators were still sorting out details at a very active scene. Check back later for more information involving the chase and accident.
