The Birmingham, Ala.-based Compass Bancshares Inc. (NYSE: BBV) which operates several branches under the name Compass Bank here in the Big Country will soon change its name to BBVA Compass. The name change includes a replacement of all external and internal bank signs and the bank
website, credit and check cards and ATM machines. Compass plans to re-brand all of its 579 branches and 734 ATMs by the end of first quarter 2009, officials said. The name change follows a year-long effort to combine four of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argenta SA Group’s U.S. operating companies — Compass Bank, State National Bank, Texas State Bank and LNB (formerly Laredo National Bank) — into one enterprise.
The BBVA Compass brand was introduced in August in several of Compass’ new markets when Texas State Bank merged with Compass, completing the bank’s second successful operating systems and product platforms conversion.
Nationally, Compass operates 579 branches and 734 ATMs. Compass operates several branches in the city of Abilene, as well as a branch in Stamford and Winters.
