Many accidents happened in the city of Abilene today and some are questioning the condition of the roads this morning.

TxDOT made a statement today saying its road crews were out on the roads at 3 a.m. this morning treating the pavement with magnesium chloride. They also stated that not only were they out early  but they have been on standby since Friday.

Rodney Abila, Streets Service Program Manager for the City of Abilene says, "We have a plan and we train for things like this. We had our training about a month ago for cold weather, so yeah we've got a plan and we stick to it."

Many drivers we spoke with said the road conditions on the main streets of Abilene were fine to drive through but the major concern this morning and early afternoon were overpasses, on and off ramps, and the highways.

The Abilene Police and Fire Department handled over 80 accidents today.
