UPDATE: Uncle Jack's Ashes Identified

By: Maria Oliver
Updated: January 13, 2009
 Jan. 13 Update:
Terry Diamond tells Maria Oliver that Abilene police informed her the ashes left on her porch in an urn were nothing more than fireplace ashes.

"Unbelievable!  It really duped a lot of folks," Diamond said.  "We wanted to do the right thing (by taking the urn to the police) but feel a little ridiculous now!"

Whoever pulled the prank spared no expense.  The urn is valued at anywhere from $500 to $1,000.

Jan. 7 Update
If you have an Uncle Jack, and his urn is missing, then this story is for you.

No Uncle Jack? You may want to keep reading anyway.

KBCY radio's Terry Diamond says she recently came home to find an urn on her front porch. This wasn't your common abandoned urn, either. The urn came with a note:

"Domi, called many times! Your new home is nice...had to drive back. Take care of Uncle Jack! love Eddy."

It might sound like a silly prank, but Abilene police are taking it seriously. Diamond turned over "Uncle Jack" to them until someone comes forward and claims him.

Diamond seems to think it's the real deal. "Our concern is that someone is expecting this delivery and it got delivered to the wrong house," said Diamond. "So, Uncle Jack is here waiting for you."

Diamond and police now hope all the media attention prompts Uncle Jack's family to come forward.
