A new report says Texas needs to make more improvements to its current infrastructure. The American Society of Civil Engineers met on Monday in Austin and gave Texas' highways, bridges and dams a "C-" for an overall score. This is the same score the engineers gave the state when the report was last conducted four years ago.
In the report, the scores for the roads and highways dropped, while bridges were given an improving score. The ratings for damns did not change. The Texas Department of Transportation and civil engineers are appealing to state lawmakers who will meet starting next week for the new legislative session to make infrastructure a priority.Score Breakdown:
- Roads/Highways: D
- Dams: D
- Bridges: B-
- Overall State Score: C-
- Overall U.S. Score: D
