According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, Texas earns a C- for it's overall road conditions.

"We've always done well compared with other states, so it sounds a little bit harsh to me," Bob Lindley, a City Engineer said.

With the potholes and bumps found throughout Abilene roads, many cars are having to be taken into the body shop for re-allignments.

"For alignments, we align on average about five cars a day," Gary Grisham owner of Gary's Automotive and Truck Service said.

Abilene received around $24 million dollars in 2006 for road re-construction projects to be spread out over a five year period.

"We're moving on with that. We've been real fortunate to have a boost from the citizens.

The bond project was voted in by the people of Abilene, so they're wanting to pay to have better streets," Bob Lindley added.

With the remaning road money Public Work's officials feel confident that our Abilene roads will continue to see more improvements around town.
