Bonham Elementary is currently undergoing renovations, but the damage left behind is adding up to a lot of money.

The mess caused by the teenagers is estimated to a possible $200,000.

Taxpayers would be paying for a portion of the cost.

It happened just before Christmas; two teenagers broke into Bonham Elementary school's gym and vandalized it through spray paint, damage to property, breaking windows, and setting the gym on fire.

The two teens are charged with two counts each of arson, felony criminal mischief, attempted burglary of a building and evading arrest.

One of the teens went before a judge today for a subsequent trial hearing where the judge decided whether or not to keep him in juvenile detention until his trial.

The judge ruled for the 14-year-old to stay in detention until his next hearing.

AISD officials say Bonham Elementary is still set to open in the fall and the gym will not delay it.

The second teenager will face a different judge tomorrow to determine whether or not he will continue to stay in juvenile detention.
