Reader: Stop Red Light Runners

By: Austin Kellerman
Updated: January 8, 2009
Bigcountryhomepage.com recieved the following e-mail about red light running in Abilene:

Ive lived in Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia area and Ive got to say the drivers here when it comes to red lights has D.C. beat by a landslide. Im a delivery driver here for Steak Express and everyday im nearly hit or I gotta wait a few extra seconds while my light is green to wait for the 3-4 additional cars to get through the red light that they now have. As a delivery driver and all the other delivery drivers out there, its just a matter of time before one of us is killed by someone who cant take an extra minute or two to wait for their light to turn green again. I shouldnt have to slow down at green lights because idiots out there feel the need to run the lights here. Its 99% of the lights around here too. I dont think that I can go to a light anywhere in this city and not see people blow through the red lights as if the traffic coming the opposite will stop for them. Something needs to be done about this. Id hate to see someone lose their life because of this.

Thanks
Steak Express Driver
