Unemployment is a thought that's been on the minds of a lot of people these last couple of months. National unemployment is running at 6.5 percent, and Texas unemployment is around 5.6 percent. Abilene's unemployment is currently about 4.4 percent.

According to Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas there are some workers in the Abilene area who have experienced temporary layoffs lately.

They're other workers who are afraid they will be laid off. Workforce Solutions encourages any workers in these situations to come and have them evaluate their skills.

Steve Collins from the Workforce Center says, strange as it may seem, there are currently more jobs available through Workforce Soulitions, than people looking for jobs.

If you're intersted in getting more information about available jobs, or job re-training, get in touch with Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas, 400 Oak, Abilene, 325-795-4304.
