A House of Yehweh elder who was recently sentenced to 30 years in prison on a sexual assault of a child conviction was back in court Friday.

Yedidiah Hawkins, who was found guilty of performing a gynecological exam late last year, plans to appeal, but with a different attorney.

Hawkins made it official in the Taylor County court house. His former attorney filed for a motion for removal from the case and Abilene attorney Quanna Parker will handle the appeal proceedings.

Up to this point, the case has been handled in Taylor County. From now on, it will be in Callahan County.
