By: Chris Whited, KRBC News
Updated: January 12, 2009
Waterways in the Big Country continue to drop as drought conditions continue to impact most of Texas. Lake Fort Phantom Hill has dropped another two-tenths of a foot since we last reported lake levels in December.  Lake Fort Phantom Hill is the primary source for drinking water for the city of Abilene. To the south of the Key City, Lake Abilene, near Buffalo Gap, is now  four-feet below its spillway.

The U.S. Geological Survey Water Watch continues to report that stream flows along the Colorado, Concho and the Clear Fork of the Brazos River are now below normal.

    Lakes & Feet Below Spillways:
    • Lake Fort Phantom Hill - 1.9'
    • Lake Abilene - 4.0'
    • Lake Stamford - 3.5'
    • Hubbard Creek Reservoir - 4.1'
    • Lake Brownwood - 4.5'
    • O.H. Ivie Reservoir - 15.5'
