Local seniors aren't just socializing, but keeping their minds active, and they're doing so by playing cards.

As adults age, it's important to remain active in both body and mind.

One group from the Rose Park Senior Center in Abilene is doing just that by playing bridge.

There are many activities seniors can do to keep their minds and bodies active.

Research shows playing card games like bridge engages the mind, making them analyze, strategize, and think; and it gives them a social life, which is what these seniors say is the best part.

While bridge might be considered a serious game, the sounds of light slaps and shuffling cards are not all that fills the air for this card-playing crew.

Doctors say playing bridge could also reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease.
