7AM Update: Session to Begin

 Lawmakers will meet in Austin Tuesday to begin the 81st regular legislative session.

The House and Senate will convene at noon.

Newly or re-elected members will be sworn-in during ceremonial events.

The House will elect a new speaker on Tuesday to replace outgoing House Speaker Tom Craddick.

The Senate is scheduled to elect a president pro-tempore who is the next in line after the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.
