Wylie Stadium Construction To Resume

An Abilene city board has given the Wylie Independent School District approval to go ahead with plans to finish renovating bulldog stadium. The board of adjustments has approved a 10-feet variance to a building height restriction that will allow Wylie to complete construction of its stadium. The school ran into some problems last week when the city administrators realized the press box was 8-feet higher than the 45-foot restriction.

Superintendent Joey Light told KRBC News "we were glad the board of adjustments heard our case and we felt there was some good reasons to go forward with that and so we're glad it's over with and so we can get started. The stadium is away from most housing so we didn't see it as being a hardship to any individual. Again, the use for the stadium was critical so we're glad it went through."  Light says construction work will resume at the stadium starting on Wednesday. The city council will vote to approve the variance changes recommended by the board at its meeting on January 22nd.
