From the outside, this home looks like many others. But inside it's a different story. It's packed with features designed to save money and the planet. This demonstration shows the difference between "low-e two" windows can make. The meter on the left with the energy-efficient windows is barely moving. The meter on the right with traditional windows is spinning rapidly.
Energy Star-rated appliances also make a difference.
Radiant barrier insulation, according to this simulation, can reduce the temperature in your attic by up to 15 degrees.
A high efficiency heating and cooling system combined with tight construction and weather stripping means more savings.
Realtors say "green" isn't just a feature anymore. It's becoming a requirement for more and more home buyers.
