An alumnus of Abilene Christian University became the "Chopped" champion last night winning a $10,000 prize!
1977 graduate, John "Sandy" Davis, beat out four chefs on the first episode of the new Food Network show Chopped.
Judges told him it took much more than his Texas charm to win. "I'm don't know what to say," David replied. "For once, I'm speechless!."
Chopped pits up-and-coming chefs against each other for a chance to win a grand prize of $10,000.
The challenge is to take ingredients that can be found in the average kitchen, and create a professional three-course meal.
Davis has a Bachelor's degree in English from Abilene Christian University, along with a Master of Science in Organizational and Human Resource Development.
He now serves as the chef at Union Theological Seminary in New York City, where he has catered such distinguished clients as Liza Manelli and Barack Obama.
