The future police of Abilene is nearing the midway point of their cadet training.

On Wednesday, they could be seen directing traffic at South 11th Street and Treadaway.

The cadets are ten weeks into their 26 week program where they focus on different aspects of police work. One cadet told bigcountryhomepage.com it's a lot of hard work but well worth it. "We enjoy it," said Cati Shriver. "It's kind of tough because it's a lot of work. But, you learn a lot."

The cadets focus on a different aspect of police work each next. Next week, they'll experience a vehicle accident investigation.
