The state has re-certified the Nolan County jail following an inspection in December. The Texas Commission on Jail Standards previously failed the jail saying it didn't have enough employees to properly supervise inmates. Since that inspection, the Nolan County Commissioner's Court granted Sheriff David Warren's request for new workers. Six new jailers were trained and added to the staff in time for the December inspection. According to a news released, the TCJS inspector was very complimentary of the overall operation and condition of the jail.
Sheriff Warren credits jail administrator Brenda Watts and the dedicated jail staff with keeping the jail operating properly. “I'm very proud of the way that Brenda and her staff perform their difficult duties and the way they help keep our community safe by keeping the prisoners secure and operating the jail in a professional manner,” said Warren.
The Nolan County Jail is inspected on an annual basis to ensure it is operating in compliance with state jail standards and procedures.
