Gas Prices Increase Again

Texans are paying more for gasoline for the second week in a row.

AAA Texas spokesperson Sarah Schimmer says the current rally in gas prices may not last. She says the combination of healthy fuel inventories along with negative retail sales, corporate profits, and housing and unemployment trends should point to lower and not higher gasoline prices.

The statewide average is up 3 cents this week two $1.66 a gallon.

The states highest price is in Amarillo at $1.71 a gallon, which is an increase 3 cents from last week.

Corpus Christi is offering the least expensive gas in the state at $1.61, a fraction of a penny more than last week.

The nationwide average is at $1.79 for a gallon of regular unleaded self-serve, up 4 cents this week.
