Looking for a good deal? Liquidation sales might not be your best bet.The Circuit City store on Ridgemont Drive in Abilene has been busy with bargain hunters looking to take advantage of the price slashes. But experts warn, liquidation sales are no place to get a good deal.
"(The liquidator) is still allowed to make big signs that scream 50% OFF!!!! even though that price at the time might be the same or even higher than the price before the liquidation," Ben Popken with Consumerist.com writes.
Often, by the time liquidation prices reach a level that can't be beat by a competitor's sale, the items have been picked over, and it's difficult for a shopper to find what he or she is looking for.
Circuit City will be accepting returns through Jan. 30 on any items purchased before Jan. 16, the day the liquidation was announced.
According to its website, the store will accept gift cards at their full value until the doors close for good, most likely in March.
