A facility that used to train hundreds of firefighters in the big country has been out of commission for a few years now because it wasn't safe.

For about thirty years, the building was used to train firefighters; one of the most crucial parts of training.

But, for the past few years firefighters couldn't use the building because of the wear and tear it's seen through so many fires.

While firefighters risk their lives for the safety of others, some of the current training facilities were no longer safe for the firefighters.

The current facility will be torn down within the next sixty days.

Some of the materials for the new building are already on location and the construction is expected to be completed by the end of march.

The money to pay for the new fire department training facility comes from a capital improvement bond from 2006.
