A product originally developed as a possible way to treat battlefield injuries is now part of an anti-aging treatment.

For a woman who says her skin feels like the Gobi Desert, news of a new, non-invasive anti-aging treatment was welcome.

The "maximum cosmetic recovery" treatment claims to replace up to two years of lost elastin, a protein that makes skin tighter and smoother.

"We're going to see a mouth that's going to lift up higher, we're going to see a sculpting along the side of the jaw. The eye is going to be more open and somewhat lifted," said nelson Thibodaux of Texas Beautiful Imaging.

The procedure involves wands that deliver a micro-current and a cream containing elastatropin, which was developed as part of a department of defense search for products that could heal battlefield injuries faster.

"The patient feels a tighter skin, they feel a softer skin, and they can see some physical changes in the face immediately after the process," said Thibodaux.

This patient felt no pain.

"After the second phase of the procedure, I could feel it pulling and toning," said patient Heidi Horan.

And with only half her face treated, she says she can see and feel the difference.

Texas Beautiful Image says each treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes and costs between $100 and $150 per treatment.

Most people get about ten treatments.
